A running board is provided for attachment to a side of a motor vehicle. The running board includes a stepping platform having a step-side and an underside extending between end walls along a longitudinal axis and laterally between inboard and outboard walls. A bracket is molded integral with and extends laterally from the inboard wall of the stepping platform for securing the running board to the motor vehicle. A plurality of primary reinforcing ribs extend along the underside of the stepping platform to support the running board as a downward force is applied to the step-side of the stepping platform. A plurality of secondary reinforcing ribs extend along the underside of the stepping platform to provide additional support to the running board wherein at least a portion of the plurality of secondary reinforcing ribs intersect a portion of the plurality of primary reinforcing ribs.
