ABSTRACT A modular control apparatus for controlling and supplying accessories of a vehicle onto which the apparatus can be mounted is presented. It comprises a keyboard and display unit including a keyboard unit, a demodulator having a first input connected to a modulated signal input, a second input receiving a clock signal and an output for generating a demodulated signal, a display unit having an input connected to the output of the demodulator, and a regulator having an input connected to the modulated signal input and an output for generating a DC signal. The apparatus also comprises a master module including a microcontroller having a supply input, a display signal output, a control output and an input/output connection for communicating with another module, a clock for generating a clock signal, a modulator having an input connected to the display signal output, a supply input for receiving a DC supply signal and an output for generating the modulated signal, and a power output interface having an input connected to the control output, and at least one power output stage to be connected to an accessory of said vehicle; whereby a standard four wire cable can be used for connecting said keyboard and display unit to said master module, and whereby at least one additional module can be connected to said master module for controlling additional accessories.
