Modular Impact Ripper Assembly Abstract An improved ripper assembly is joined to and drawn by a draft device and includes a mounting structure, a ripper element, and an impactor apparatus. The mounting structure includes an upper flange and a lower flange joined together by a pair of side plates. Aligned openings in the flanges permit attachment thereof to the draft device and allows pivoting about a vertical pivot axis when pins are installed. The ripper element is pivotable about a horizontal pivot axis and is secured to the mounting structure by a pivot pin. The impact apparatus imparts intermittent blows to the ripper element and is joined to the mounting structure by a single upper support pin and two, aligned lower support pins. The upper and lower support pins are disposed adjacent the upper and lower flanges respectively, while the pivot axis extends through the side plates intermediate the upper and lower flanges. The relative disposition of the component interconnections of the impact ripper assembly and the independent nature of the connections permit separate removal of the ripper element and/or the impactor apparatus.
