MODULAR JACK FOR PLUG-IN COMMUNICATION TERMINALS AND METHOD OF MOULDING SAME Abstract of the Disclosure A modular jack includes a one piece shell carrying terminals within a cavity of the shell, and a plug receptacle for electrical connection to the terminals. A transmission line, such as a telephone line, is connected to the terminals, and the modular jack is mounted to a support structure, such as a wall, so that the cavity faces the wall. A plug connected to a plug-in terminal, such as a plug-in telephone, is inserted in the receptacle to connect the telephone to the telephone line. The one piece shell of the modular jack replaces the two piece base and cover assembly of previously known plug-in telephone jacks. The shell may be moulded with insulation displacement terminal strips partially embedded therein.
