A modular link conveyor including a plurality of modular link assemblies (10) made up of links (11) of an improved design assembled to create a closely interdigitating conveying surface is disclosed. The improved links (11) eliminate undesirable gaps or openings in the conveying surface. Particularly, the improved links include a forwardly extending tongue (21), projecting from the leading apex (13) of the link, which occupies an open space between the trailing apexes (16) of the legs (15) of the next forward link, thus minimizing the tendency of foreign objects from falling into the open space. The topside (23) of the tongue (21) is tapered downward so as to lift free any objects present in the open spaces primarily while the conveyor is maneuvering through a turn. A forwardly projecting finger (29), positioned between adjoining links (11), is also provided for filling a void between the adjoining links.

L'invention concerne un convoyeur à maillons modulaires comprenant une pluralité d'ensembles (10) de maillons modulaires, constitués de maillons (11) de conception améliorée, assemblés de façon à créer une surface de transport intimement interdigitée. Les maillons améliorés (11) suppriment les intervalles ou orifices indésirables dans la surface de transport. Chaque maillon comporte une languette (21) s'étendant vers l'avant, saillant depuis le sommet antérieur (13) dudit maillon, qui occupe un espace ouvert entre les sommets postérieurs (16) des pieds (15) du maillon qui le précède immédiatement, ce qui minimise le risque que des objets étrangers tombent dans ledit espace ouvert. Le dessus (23) de la languette (21) est effilé vers le bas, de façon à soulever les objets présents dans l'espace ouvert de préférence au moment où le convoyeur est en train d'accomplir une rotation. Un doigt s'étendant vers l'avant (29), positionné entre des maillons adjacents (11), permet également de combler un vide entre lesdits maillons.
