A two-piece modular pack shipping carton (10) comprises a substantially planar base (12) having an upper surface (14) and a lower surface (16), the lower surface (16) being provided with feet (18) to reduce friction by raising the base above a reference surface, such as a floor. A substantially U-shaped cover (20) is fitted to the base. The carton (10) is specifically designed to carry incandescent lamps and can be constructed at reduced cost and its assembly is automateable.
