A modular plastic conveyor belt (10) having a central beam (32) along each belt row. The beam extends laterally across the width of a belt row and includes a linear portion (36) in a middle region of the belt and a sinuous region near both side edges of the belt. In the linear region, the beam includes a portion (38) of constant thickness with linearly tapering portions (39) toward the side edges of the belt. In this way, the thicker portions of the beam in the middle of the belt provide beam strength to allow less frequent support beneath the belt and the thinner sinuous portions at the edges of the belt give it the flexibility and mobility to collapse at the inside of a turn.
L'invention concerne un transporteur à courroie en plastique modulaire (10) doté d'un faisceau central (32) le long de chaque rangée du transporteur. Ledit faisceau s'étend latéralement à travers la largeur d'une rangée du transporteur et comporte une partie linéaire (36) dans une zone centrale du transporteur et une zone sinueuse à proximité des deux bords latéraux de la ceinture. Dans la zone linéaire, le faisceau comporte une partie (38) d'épaisseur constante pourvue de parties linéairement coniques (39) dirigées vers les côtés latéraux du transporteur. Ainsi, les parties plus épaisses du faisceau au centre du transporteur engendrent une résistance du faisceau de manière à permettre un support moins fréquent au-dessous du transporteur et les parties sinueuses plus minces au niveau des bords du transporteur lui confèrent une certaine flexibilité et une certaine mobilité de manière qu'il s'affaisse à l'intérieur d'un virage.
