The present invention relates to a system comprising a host and a remote transaction terminal in communication with the host, wherein the host is capable of generating a command, and the command includes an opcode, an arguments length field, and an arguments data field. The host comprises a processor and a memory containing code for execution by the processor, wherein the processor is capable of generating a command, and the command includes an opcode, an arguments length field, and an arguments data field. The present invention also relates to a method comprising providing a host capable of communicating with a remote transaction terminal, and generating at the host a command that includes an opcode, an arguments length field, and an argumentsdata field.
