Broadcasting on the FM band suffers from one major disadvantage for digital transmission on account of a propagation problem called spatial fading, or flat fading. The invention concerns a method for modulating a digital signal of width L in frequency on a specific useful frequency band. The invention is characterized in that it comprises the following steps: separating the digital signal into N blocks b¿n? (1 = n <= N), partitioning the specific useful frequency band into N adjacent parts P¿n?, defining channels C¿n?, of width l¿n? in frequency, included in one associated P¿n? part, the channels C¿n? being separated, distributing each bloc of digital signals b¿n? over the associated channel C¿n?.

La diffusion sur la bande FM présente un inconvénient majeur pour la transmission numérique en raison d'un problème de propagation appelé évanouissement (fading en anglais) spatial ou évanouissement plat. L'invention propose un procédé de modulation d'un signal numérique de largeur L en fréquence sur une bande de fréquences utile donnée caractérisé comportant les étapes suivantes Une séparation du signal numérique en N bloc bn (1 <= n >= N), Un découpage de la bande de fréquences utile donnée en N parties Pn contiguës, Une définition de canaux Cn, de largeur ln en fréquence, compris dans une partie Pn associée, les canaux Cn étant séparés, Une répartition de chaque bloc de signaux numériques bn sur le canal Cn associé.
