In this invention, a wave to be modulated (WE) and a command wave (WC) of an optic type are injected simultaneously into the wave guide (4) of a diode (2) that can constitute the semiconductor part of an electroabsorption modulator, the impedance (R) present at the poles of this diode being high enough to allow a modulation in the amplitude of the command wave to be transferred to the wave to be modulated. This invention is particularly applicable to fibre-optic telecommunications systems, particularly for the resynchronization of solitons.
