Abstract Method for the continuous production of shaped bodies, in particular boards, from a mixture of gypsum and fibrous material and apparatus for carrying out the method The invention relates to a method for the continuous production of shaped bodies from gypsum and fibrous material in which firstly a proportioned amount of gypsum and fibrous material are intimately mixed together, the mass of the dry gypsum-fibrous material mixture then being measured. In a second mixing operation underproportioned water addition the mixture is moistened and is then spread to form shaped bodies whose surfaces are subsequently moistened; the shaped body is then compacted. To obtain higher strengths it is further provided to divide the mass flow into separate sub-mass flows and to spread the shaped body in several layers, each sub-mass flow forming a layer of the shaped body. Each deposited layer is subsequently moistened with water, and the total amount of water added to a shaped body may be up to 25% above the stoichiometric water amount for setting the gypsum-fibrous material mixture.
