A moisture absorbent material comprises a porous matrix of adsorbent alumina, the volume of the pores of the matrix being between 60 and 90 %, preferably 80 to 85 % of the volume of the material. The average diameter of the pores is between 5 x 10-9 and 1 x 10-6 m. The pores contain a crystalline deliquescent compound, preferably calcium chloride, in an amount of between 4 and 20 %, preferably between 8 and 12 %, by weight, excluding any water of crystallisation, with respect to the total weight of the material. The absorbent material may be incorporated in a shoe insole and absorbs up to 1.5 ml moisture per gram of dry material whilst generating heat, thereby maintaining the feet of the user both warm and dry.
Un matériau absorbant l'humidité comprend une matrice poreuse d'oxyde d'aluminium adsorbant, le volume des pores de la matrice comprenant entre 60 et 90 %, de préférence entre 80 et 85 %, du volume du matériau. Le diamètre moyen des pores est compris entre 5 x 10?-9¿ et 1 x 10?-6¿ m. Les pores contiennent un composé déliquescent, cristallin, de préférence du chlorure de calcium, dans une quantité comprise entre 4 et 20 %, de préférence entre 8 et 12 %, en poids, excluant toute eau de cristallisation, par rapport au poids total du matériau. Le matériau absorbant peut être incorporé dans une semelle intérieure de chaussure et peut absorber jusqu'à 1,5 ml d'humidité par gramme de matériau sec, tout en générant de la chaleur, ce qui permet de maintenir les pieds de l'utilisateur au chaud et au sec.
