ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of producing a spoked wheel from parallelly oriented fiber reinforced material improves the positioning of the fibers and eliminates air entrainment in the fibers by providing a mold having a central support with an annular ring thereabout having a mold groove in its top surface ad- jacent its periphery, and at least two ramps connecting the groove with the central support; placing a segmental cover plate having a mold groove in its bottom surface over the mold groove in the annular ring and leaving an entrance channel between the ring and cover which communicates with the periphery of the ring and cover; placing a hub having parallel top and bottom flanges on the central support; wrapping binder im- pregnated parallel fibers into the entrance channel up the ramps, and between the flanges until parallel fibers and binder build up in the mold grooves to the entrance channel; forcing a wedge-shaped member into the entrance channel to move the parallel fibers laterally to fill the mold grooves in the annular ring and its cover plate; and hardening the binder. The details of the mold are also disclosed.
