A mold powder for continuous casting of steel is characterized by comprising, as a carbonaceous material, not more than 0.5 (including zero) mass% of carbon black, 0.5-20 mass% of a carbon powder other than carbon black, and 0.1-7.0 mass% of a carbohydrate powder.
