A moldable plastic guard segment (20a) for use in a protective guard for a conduit such as a hose, tubing, wire, cable, and fiber optics (14). The guard (20) is receivable over the surface of the conduit (14) and is formed as a series connection of a first guard segment (20a) and at least a second guard segment (20b). Each of the guard segments (20a, 20b) is formed as having a generally-annular body (30) which extends longitudinally along a central axis (32) of the guard segment (20a, 20b) intermediate a first end (34) and a second defining a unit length of the guard therebetween. The body first end (34) has an inner radial surface (40) of a first diametric extent (d1). The body second end (36) has an outer radial surface (42) of a second diametric extent configured to be receivable within the first diametric extent (d1) of the inner radial surface (40) of the first end (34) of an adjacent guard segment (20) for coupling each guard segment (20) to an adjacent guard segment (20) in forming the guard (10).
