Methods for diagnosing or detecting cancerous prostate tissue in a sample using a panel of 8 specific marker genes glutathione S- transferase M4, latent transforming growth factor beta binding protein 4, D component of complement (adipsin), Nel-like 2, X-box binding protein 1, intersectin 1, folate hydrolase and hepsin The over-expression or under-expression of the 8 marker genes, compared to their expression in normal prostate tissue, is indicative of cancerous prostate tissue By using these 8 marker genes as a diagnostic tool, smaller tissue samples, such as those obtained by core needle biopsies can be used.

L'invention concerne des méthodes de diagnostic ou de détection d'un tissu prostatique cancéreux dans un prélèvement au moyen d'un échantillon de 8 gènes marqueurs spécifiques: la glutathione S- transférase M4; la protéine de liaison au facteur de croissance anti-transformation bêta latent 4; le composant D du complément (adipsine); le facteur de croissance épidermique neuronale de type 2 (Nel-like 2); la protéine 1 de liaison au promoteur X-box; l'intersectine 1; la folate hydrolase; et l'hepsine. La surexpression ou la sous-expression des 8 gènes marqueurs, comparées à leur expression dans un tissu sain de la prostate, est une indication d'un tissu prostatique cancéreux. L'emploi de ces 8 gènes marqueurs comme outil diagnostic permet d'utiliser des prélèvements de tissu plus petits, tels que ceux obtenus par microbiopsie à l'aiguille.
