- 20 - A B S T R A C T MOLYBDENUM-CONTAINING FRICTION-REDUCING ADDITIVES The invention provides molybdenum-containing complexes prepared by reacting a carboxylic acid or metal salt thereof, an amine and a source of cationic molybdenum, wherein the ratio of the number of equivalents of acid groups to the number of moles of molybdenum (eq : mol) is in the range from 1 : 10 to 10 : 1, and the ratio of the number of equivalents of acid groups to the number of moles of amine (eq : mol) is in the range from 20 : 1 to 1 : 10; a process for their preparation; lubricating oil compositions containing them; and their use as friction-reducing additives.
