Abstract of the Disclosure A novel noble metal-base metal multi-component electrocatalyst which has a catalytic activity of at least 10 times an alloyed noble metal catalyst is described. A particulate graphite support is impregnated with chloroplatinic acid or palladium chloride and fired. The resulting noble metal catalyst is then mixed with molybdic or tungstic acid and evaporated to dryness. Optionally a binder-waterproofing agent may be added to the catalyst, which is particularly useful in a hydrogen oxidation cell.
