System and screening method for determining characteristics of placenta and fetus in pregnant woman by using system identification techniques to determine whether a fetus is at immediate risk or should enter a high risk pregnancy follow-up. In particular, a system which is a combination of non invasive detectors for the acquisition of physiological signals, a procedure for synchronizing the acquired maternal and fetal signals, and algorithms developed for system identification of biological open-loop systems are employed. The maternal-fetal system has a purely causal relationship between input and output, connected by the placenta. Hence, the identification and modeling of the system reflect the interconnection relations.

L'invention porte sur un système et un procédé de balayage permettant de déterminer les caractéristiques du placenta et du foetus chez la femme enceinte à l'aide de techniques d'identification du système de façon à déterminer s'il y a un risque immédiat pour le foetus ou si celui-ci doit faire l'objet d'un suivi de grossesse à haut risque. On utilise notamment un système qui est une combinaison de détecteurs non invasifs permettant l'acquisition de signaux physiologiques, une procédure de synchronisation des signaux maternels et foetaux acquis, et des algorithmes établis pour l'identification de systèmes biologiques à circuit ouvert. Le système maternel-foetal a une relation purement causale entre l'entrée et la sortie, raccordées par le placenta. L'identification et la modélisation du système révèlent ainsi les relations d'interconnexion.
