In a single pass, tri-level imaging apparatus, machine cycle down is initiated when the color developer housing is functioning improperly. The voltage level of the color image prior to its development is read using an electrostatic voltmeter (ESV). The voltage level thereof is also read after development. The difference between these two readings is compared to an arbitrary target value and a machine cycle down is initiated if the difference is greater than the target.

L'invention est un appareil d'imagerie à trois niveaux à passage unique dans lequel une mise hors tension progressive est amorcée quand le logement du révélateur couleur fonctionne incorrectement. La tension de l'image couleur avant le développement de cette dernière est mesurée au moyen d'un voltmètre électrostatique. Cette tension est également mesurée après le développement. La différence entre les deux tensions mesurées est comparée à une valeur de référence donnée et la mise hors tension progressive de la machine est amorcée si cette différence est supérieure à cette valeur de référence.
