A method and apparatus for monitoring a body having a reflective surface (1), a coating layer (2) of material transparent to visible light present on the surface (1) and producing a covert optical discontinuity in an imagewise distribution on the layer (2); the imagewise distribution is such that it is visible via polarised light (7) and viewing through a polarised filter (8).

Cette invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de surveiller un corps ayant une surface réfléchissante (1) ainsi qu'une couche protectrice (2) de matière transparente à la lumière visible recouvrant ladite surface (1) et produisant une discontinuité optique cachée en une répartition selon l'image sur ladite couche (2), ladite répartition selon l'image étant telle qu'elle est visible lorsqu'elle est éclairée par une lumière polarisée (7) et visualisée au moyen d'un filtre polarisé (8).
