Communicating with and/or monitoring of a targeted user in computer-network environment (e.g., an instant messaging system) involves detecting that the targeted user has signed on to the network, and upon detecting the signon, automatically communicating with the targeted user, for example, by sending an instant message previously specified by a targeting user. Alternatively, or in addition, the targeting user can receive notification that the targeted user has signed on and/or that the instant message has been sent. Instead of, or in addition to, automatically sending an instant message and/or notifying the targeting user, a predefined operation specified by the targeting user (e.g., operating system command, script or executable file) can be performed. These various operations can be performed on one or more client systems, on one or more server systems, or any combination thereof.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de surveiller et/ou de communiquer avec un utilisateur cible dans un environnement du type réseau informatique (par exemple, un système de messagerie instantanée). Ledit procédé consiste à détecter si l'utilisateur cible a ouvert une session sur le réseau, et lors de cette opération de détection, à communiquer automatiquement avec l'utilisateur cible, notamment, par l'envoi d'un message instantané spécifié au préalable par un utilisateur source. Selon un autre mode de réalisation, ou en outre, l'utilisateur source peut recevoir la notification de l'ouverture de session par l'utilisateur cible et/ou de l'envoi du message instantané. Outre le fait/au lieu d'envoyer automatiquement un message instantané et/ou de notifier l'utilisateur source, il est possible d'effectuer une opération prédéfinie spécifiée par l'utilisateur source (commande du système d'exploitation, script, ou fichier exécutable). Ces diverses opérations peuvent être réalisées sur un ou plusieurs systèmes clients, sur un ou plusieurs systèmes serveurs, ou sur une combinaison quelconque de ces systèmes.
