Monkey alpha-7 neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor polypeptides, as well as the DNA (RNA) encoding such polypeptides, are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for utilizing such polypeptides in diagnostic assays for identifying mutations in nucleic acid sequences encoding the polypeptides of the present invention, for detecting altered levels of the polypeptide of the present invention as a means of detecting diseases and methods of screening potential modulators of the novel alpha-7 receptor disclosed herein. Transgenic animals expressing polypeptides disclosed herein are also described.
L'invention se rapporte à des polypeptides du récepteur nicotinique simien de l'acétylcholine de type neuronal alpha-7, ainsi qu'à l'ADN(ARN) codant ces polypeptides. Cette invention concerne également des procédés utilisant lesdits polypeptides dans des analyses diagnostiques pour identifier des mutations affectant des séquences d'acides nucléiques qui codent lesdits polypeptides, afin de détecter des niveaux altérés desdits polypeptides et ainsi déceler des maladies. L'invention se rapporte en outre à des procédés de dépistage de modulateurs potentiels dudit récepteur alpha-7, ainsi qu'à des animaux transgéniques exprimant lesdits polypeptides.
