-42- ABSTRACT Aldehyde-containing hydrolyzable silanes of the formula Image wherein R and R' represent C1-4 alkyl radicals, x represents a divalent organic bridging group and a has a value of 0 to 2 are disclosed herein as well as a method for their preparation through hydroformylation. These compositions are useful as coupling agents to enhance the adhesion of a variety of substrates and as starting materials for the production of hydroxy-substituted organo-hydrolzable silanes via hydrogenation.
