Novel monoazo plgments Abstract Monazo pigments of the formula I Image in which R2 is methyl, R1 is cyano or -COOR6 and R3 is -COOR6 wherein R6 is methyl or ethyl, X1 and X2 are inde- pendently hydrogen, halogen, alkyl having 1-4 C atoms or alkoxy having 1-4 C atoms, and X5 is phenyl or phenyl substituted by one, two or three identical or different substituents selected from the group consisting of chlorine, alkyl having 1-4 C atoms, alkoxy having 1-4 C atoms, trifluoromethyl, -COOX4, -CONHX4, -NHCOX4 and -CONH2 in which X4 is alkyl having 1-4 C atoms, phenyl, benzyl, or said phenyl or said benzyl substituted by halogen or by alkyl having 1-4 C atoms. These pigments are suitable for colouring high molecular weight organic material and are distinguished by their easy accessibility and good general fastness properties and in particular by high clarity of colour shade.
