The present application is related to methods and compositions for the therapeutic and diagnostic use in the treatment of diseases and disorders which are caused by or associated with amyloid or amyloid-like proteins including amyloidosis, a group of disorders and abnormalities associated with amyloid protein such as Alzheimer's disease. The present application provides novel methods and compositions comprising highly specific and highly effective antibodies having the ability to specifically recognize and bind to specific epitopes from a range of .beta.-amyloid proteins. The antibodies enabled by the teaching of the present application are particularly useful for the treatment of diseases and disorders which are caused by or associated with amyloid or amyloid-like proteins including amyloidosis, a group of diseases and disorders associated with amyloid plaque formation including secondary amyloidosis and age-related amyloidosis including, but not limited to, neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's Disease (AD).
L'invention concerne des procédés et des compositions destinés à une utilisation thérapeutique et diagnostique dans le traitement de maladies et de troubles provoqués par des protéines amyloïdes ou par des protéines de type amyloïde, ou de maladies et de troubles associés à de telles protéines, ces maladies et troubles comprenant l'amyloïdose ainsi qu'un ensemble de troubles et d'anomalies associés à la protéine amyloïde telle la maladie d'Alzheimer. L'invention concerne de nouveaux procédés et de nouvelles compositions comprenant des anticorps hautement spécifiques et hautement efficaces permettant de reconnaître spécifiquement des épitopes spécifiques provenant d'une certaine gamme de protéines amyloïdes ß et de se lier à de tels épitopes. Les anticorps selon l'invention sont particulièrement utiles pour traiter des maladies et des troubles provoqués par des protéines amyloïdes ou par des protéines de type amyloïde ou des maladies et des troubles associés à la formation de plaques amyloïdes. Ces maladies et troubles comprennent l'amyloïdose secondaire et l'amyloïdose liée au vieillissement comprenant, de manière non exhaustive, des troubles neurologiques comme la maladie d'Alzheimer.
