The present invention concerns a hybridoma which secretes a monoclonal antibody specific for human A which reacts with free human fibrinopeptide A, but which does not react with intact fibrinogen or human fibrinopeptide A - containing fibrinogen fragments, e.g., the alpha chain of fibrinogen. Such monoclonal antibody can be used in assays to determine the amount of free hFPA in intact plasma.
