The present invention relates to monoclonal antibodies which recognise polysulphated polysaccharides which contain 2,3-; 2,6-; or 4,6- disulphate ester pyranose ring substitution. These antibodies are used in assays for the detection and/or quantification of polysulphated polysaccharides which contain 2,3-; 2,6-; or 4,6- disulphate ester pyranose ring substitution in biological fluids. The invention also relates to diagnostic kits for use in the assays.
