Abstract of the Disclosure A monoclonal antibody exhibits specificity to sulfated glycolipid, in particular to cerebroside sulfuric acid ester. The monoclonal antibody can be obtained from a hybridoma obtained by fusing (A) an antibody-producing cell obtained by immunizing an animal with a sulfated glycolipid as an antigen, with (B) a myeloma cell. The monoclonal antibody can be used to diagnose renal diseases of animals and treat patients suffering from such diseases. Also, it can be used in the affinity chromatography for purifying antigens capable of bonding thereto.
