PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention concerne un itrure de bore constitué de plaquettes de forme cristalline hexagonale d'au plus 0,4µm, d'une pureté d'au moins 99% et présentant une teneur d'au plus 500 ppm en impuretés métalliques et en silicium. Ce nitrure utilisable comme réfractaire, isolant ou lubrifiant, est obtenu par un procédé dans lequel on soumet du nitrure de bore issu d'une synthèse en phase gazeuse ou issu de la réaction de l'ammoniac liquide sur un halogénure de bore, à une double calcination, la première étant effectuée sous une atmosphère neutre et confinée, la seconde sous vide.
