ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION An oscillating surface feeder that forms bodies into a dense non-tumbling monolayer and moves said monolayer as a stream in a direction from an input region to a discharge region; said feeder comprising: an alignment surface, a means for oscillating said surface such that oscillations at any part of said surface are restricted to one or more directions substantially tangential to all points at said part, and a means for moving said bodies to make said steam.
