Disclosed herein are antibodies that bind with high specificity to soluble oligomers of amyloid .beta. (Abeta) and methods utilizing such antibodies. The antibodies are able to distinguish between Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and control human brain extracts. The antibodies identify endogenous Abeta oligomers in AD brain slices and also bind to Abeta oligomers on cultured hippocampal cells. The antibodies neutralize endogenous Abeta oligomers and Abeta oligomers produced in solution.
L'invention concerne des anticorps qui se lient avec une spécificité élevée à des oligomères solubles de ß-amyloïdes (Abeta), ainsi que des méthodes d'utilisation desdits anticorps. Lesdits anticorps permettent de faire la distinction entre des extraits de cerveau humain atteints de la maladie d'Alzheimer (AD) et témoins. Lesdits anticorps permettent d'identifier les oligomères Abeta endogènes dans des coupes de cerveau atteint de l'AD et se lient également aux oligomères Abeta sur des cellules hyppocampiques cultivées. Lesdits anticorps neutralisent les oligomères Abeta endogènes et les oligomères Abeta produits en solution.
