Monospecific antibodies are produced which are specific for the carboxyl- terminal region of human inducible nitric oxide synthase (hiNOS). These monospecific antibodies are used in an assay system to detect hiNOS. Elevations of hiNOS occur in hepatitis and inflammatory bowel disease, as well as numerous inflammatory diseases. The monospecific antibodies and the assay systems are used to quantitate hiNOS as a readout of hiNOS activity and to evaluate potential hiNOS modulators.

L'invention porte sur la production d'anticorps spécifiques contre la région d'extrémité carboxylique de la synthétase du monoxyde d'azote humaine inductible (hiNOS). On utilise ces anticorps monospécifiques dans des systèmes de dosage pour déceler la présence d'hiNOS. L'élévation de la teneur en hiNOS survient dans le cas de l'hépatite et des affections intestinales inflammatoires ainsi que dans celui de nombreuses maladies inflammatoires.
