ABSTRACT Mooring device comprising an element anchored to the water bed. This element, such as a column or buoy, carries a weighted structure suspended from the element with its centre of gravity below the point of suspension such that it can swing about a horizontal pin and rotate about a vertical axis. Said weighted structure having a rigid arm which faces away from the structure, the free end of which can be coupled with or without pretension with a ship.
