Elastomeric pads (42, 44) are arranged radially around the main bearing (28) which rotatably supports a mooring turret (22) with respect to a vessel (10). The elastomeric pads act as radial springs to react the radial turret loads in the vessel and to compensate for ovaling of the vessel in response to sea environmental forces on the vessel. A radial spring assembly (50) is provided whic applies compressive load to the elastomeric pads when the vessel and turret move radially toward each other, but prevent tension from being applied to the pads when the vessel and turret move radially away from each other.

Selon l'invention, des tampons en élastomère (42, 44) sont disposés radialement autour du palier principal (28) constituant le support, doté de rotation, d'une tourelle d'amarrage (22) par rapport à un navire (10). Ces tampons en élastomère agissent comme des ressorts radiaux face aux charges radiales de tourelle et permettent de compenser la déformation en ovale du navire causée par l'état de la mer. Un assemblage radial de ressorts (50) permet d'appliquer une compression radiale sur les tampons en élastomère lorsque la tourelle et le navire entreprennent un mouvement de rapprochement radial, mais empêchent qu'une tension soit appliquée sur ces tampons lorsque le navire et la tourelle entreprennent un mouvement d'éloignement radial.
