Cet alliage-mère contient 50 à 85 en poids de Sn, 5 à 30% en poids de Zr, 0 à 20% en poids de Fe, 0 à 20% de Cr, la teneur Fe + Cr étant comprise entre 3 et 30%. Un tel alliage permet d'élaborer des alliages de zirconium dans lesquels l'étain est distribué de façon homogène.
