A theatre (20) designed to provide an intimate environment for an audience, particularly for watching 3-D motion pictures. The theatre (20) has an auditorium (22) with a sloped seating deck (36) and audience entry/exit points (38, 40) on opposite sides generally at an intermediate level of the deck. The entry/exit points (38, 40) are generally at ground level (G) with the portion of the deck below those points (38, 40) in an excavated pit. A ground level lobby (30) connects to the access points (38, 40) by aisles (60, 62) outwardly of opposite sides of the auditorium (22) and a projection room (32) is provided above the lobby (30).

L'invention concerne une salle de cinéma (20) conçue pour offrir au public un environnement d'intimité, notamment pour la projection de films en trois dimensions. La salle (20) comporte un auditorium (22) pourvu d'une partie (36) de gradins en pente et de points d'entrée/sortie (38, 40) du public de part et d'autre et généralement à un niveau intermédiaire de la partie de gradins. Les points d'entrée/sortie (38, 40) se situent, d'une manière générale, au niveau du sol (G), la zone de la partie gradins se trouvant au-dessous de ces points (38, 40) et étant disposée dans une fosse. Un couloir (30) au niveau du sol est relié aux points d'accès (38, 40) par des allées (60, 62) s'étendant sur les côtés opposés de l'auditorium (22), et au-dessus dudit couloir (30) se trouve une salle de projection (32).
