A switch or switch mechanism that can be used with an object to detect motion of the object in a par-ticular direction or directions is disclosed. The switch can include two contacts and a conductive mechanism that re-mains engaged with one contact and that is selectively en-gageable with the other contact in response to movement in a particular direction.
