ABSTRACT A motion transmitting device comprises four basic elements being eccentric means, meshing means in the form of a series of individually movable meshing elements, gear means formed with portions complementary to said meshing elements, and movement-limiting means. The eccentric means is disposed to cause said meshing elements sequentially to wobble in and out of meshing engagement with said complementary portions, whilst said elements are individually guided within specific limits of wobbling motion by said movement-limiting means. The gear means is suitably a toothed gear wheel which meshes with a transmission chain whose pins provide the meshing elements and which extend at the sides to provide part of the movement-limiting means, the other part thereof comprising holes in a datum plate which define the limits of movement of the pin ends. Any two of the four basic elements can provide the input and output of the device and any desired ratio between input and output rotation speeds, in single or multiple stage devices, by suitably choosing the numbers of meshing elements and complementary portions on the gear means respectively can be achieved.
