Apparatus for securement of an automobile to a motor home and for carrying articles between the motor home and the automobile for towing behind the motor home includes a tow bar having an attachment device on one end for making a steering connection to the motor home pivoted about an upright axis permitting movement of the tow bar in a substantially horizontal plane about the axis; a connecting frame fastened against horizontal movement adjacent a forward end to a rear portion of the tow bar; a carrier platform member including a flat support surface carried by the connecting frame in substantially vertical alignment therewith so that the tow bar may position a forward end of the carrier platform member adjacent a rear end of the motor home; a transversely spaced pair of wheels for supporting the carrier platform member for hookup of the apparatus for towing and supporting the carrier platform members for acting as a trailer; a retracting device for facilitating raising of the wheels and locking the wheels during towing in raised out-of-the-way position and a towing connection for said automobile carried by the connecting frame adjacent a rear end of the carrier platform member. The towing connection includes a substantially horizontal transverse pivotal connection for securement to said automobile substantially fixing the automobile against horizontal movement in respect to the connecting frame but permitting pivotal movement in a vertical plane during towing; the carrier platform member being positioned between the tow bar and the towing connection providing a carrier accessible for use avoiding storage of articles in the motor home and for stabilizing the motor home and automobile during towing.
Dispositif servant à fixer une automobile à une autocaravane et à soutenir des objets entre l'autocaravane et l'automobile pour faire du remorquage derrière l'autocaravane. Il comprend : une barre de remorquage munie d'un dispositif de fixation à l'une de ses extrémités pour effectuer le raccordement articulé à l'autocaravane, ce dispositif de fixation pouvant pivoter autour d'un axe vertical pour permettre le mouvement de la barre de remorquage dans un plan sensiblement horizontal autour de l'axe; un cadre de raccordement fixe pour empêcher tout mouvement horizontal contigu à une extrémité antérieure d'une section postérieure de la barre de remorquage; un élément de support de plate-forme comprenant une surface plate de support soutenue par le cadre de raccordement sensiblement aligné avec lui pour que la barre de remorquage puisse placer une extrémité antérieure de l'élément de support de la plate-forme à proximité d'une extrémité postérieure de l'autocaravane; une paire de roues espacées transversalement pour soutenir l'élément de support de la plate-forme pour le raccordement du dispositif afin qu'il puisse remorquer et soutenir les éléments de support de la plate-forme de manière à lui permettre ainsi de servir de remorque; un dispositif d'escamotage pour rendre plus facile le soulèvement des roues et les bloquer en cours de remorquage en position escamotée; et un raccordement de remorquage de la dite automobile supporté par le cadre de raccordement voisin d'une extrémité postérieure de l'élément de support de la plate-forme. Le raccordement de remorquage comprend un raccordement pivotant dans un plan sensiblement horizontal et transversal pour fixer la dite automobile en l'attachant de manière à empêcher à peu près tout mouvement horizontal par rapport au cadre de raccordement mais en permettant un mouvement de pivotement dans un plan vertical en cours de remorquage, l'élément de support de la plate-forme étant placé entre la barre de remorquage et le raccordement de remorquage. On obtient ainsi une remorque utilisable, on peut éviter d'entreposer des objets dans l'autocaravane, et l'on stabilise l'autocaravane et l'automobile pendant le remorquage.
