Abstract of the Disclosure A feedback system for controlling the speed of a fluid motor includes an optical-signal transmitter, an optical-signal receiver, and an optically sensitive marker on the motor output shaft. The marker selectively couples the optical-signal transmitter to the optical-signal receiver to provide an optical-signal indicative of motor speed. This selectively coupled optical output signal is fed to a converter which converts the signal to a fluid sig- nal. A processor is coupled to the converter for processing the fluid signal to provide a processed fluid signal which is coupled to the input of the fluid motor to control it.
