A longitudinally extending cut in formed in the bottom wall of an eavestrough in order to separate the eavestrough into outer and inner segments. The inner segment is attached to the fascia of a building while the outer segment is hung to the inner segment such that the outer segment extends inward toward a vertical exterior wall of the building. The eavestrough is cut by a machine which has a pair of cutting wheels mounted to a framework. The wheels rotate about parallel axes and have cylindrical outer walls parallel to the axes.
