Mount for the safety device (1) in a lift cage, consisting of a positional fixing in the position of readiness and a device for the movement thereof in at least one plane during the braking process. A catch housing (5) is supported horizontally fixed in the position of readiness in the safety device (1) and is held in this position by a resilient plate (13) resting fully by a light bias on the catch housing (5). During the braking process the catch housing (5) is urged upwardly against the resilient plate (13), wherein the horizontal fixing is then cancelled and a self-centring of the catch housing (5) in relation to the guide rails takes place. The transmission of the catching forces to cage constructional parts (3) takes place damped and progressively sprung.
