ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A mounting or bracket apparatus for securing a plurality of independent seating sections together to form a modular sofa assembly and method of using same. Each independent seating section has lower front and rear end portions and side frame members substantially perpendicular to the front and rear end portions. Angle brackets are secured to the front and rear or sides of each seating unit. The seating units are aligned in close side-by-side proximity and connecting links are used to secure the angle brackets of adjacent seating units. Apertures in the angle brackets engage locking tabs formed in the connecting link or threaded fasteners disposed therethrough to secure the connecting links to the angle brackets and to provide adjustment of the side-by-side relationship of the seating units. Alternatively, a bracket member having a key-hole like opening is secured a seating unit such that the bracket extends laterally from the seating unit. A fastener member having an enlarged head portion is secured to an adjacent seating unit such that the enlarged head protrudes through the key-hole like opening and engages the bracket member. In this manner, individual seating units can be secured together to form the modular sofa assembly which is easily and readily assembled and disassembled.
