ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A chair with a tubular metal frame carrying a seat and backrest. The lower portion of the backrest is connected to the frame by at least one mounting assembly that includes metal straps that are mounted on the front and rear surfaces of the backrest core and connected together by the fasteners that pass through the straps and core. A bracket is secured to the strap on the rear surface of backrest and is welded to the portion of the metal frame which supports the backrest.
