ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification describes an apparatus for forming a contour in a deformable object and for securing the object to a support member which is rigid enough to hold the object in the contour to which it has been deformed, the apparatus comprising: a first structure in which is secured the support member, at least two spaced-apart thrust bearings designed to receive the deformable object, a track mounted on a second structure and having a contour that has the same shape as the contour to which it is desired to deform the deformable object, a carriage mounted on the track and movable thereon through the contour on the track, means mounted on the carriage for deforming the deformable object into the shape of the contour of the track, and means for attaching the deformable object to the support member while it is being deformed by the deforming means.
