ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A mousetrap consisting of a body having an exterior surface, an elongate interior cavity, and an exterior opening providing access to the interior cavity. A snare extends through a slot in the body transverse to the interior cavity and adjacent to the exterior opening. A biased arm is mounted to the exterior surface of the body and has one end secured to the snare whereby a biasing force is provided to urge the snare out of the interior cavity. A plurality of holes extend transversely through the body adjacent to the snare and spaced further into the interior cavity than the snare. The holes are adapted to receive thread. Thread is extended over the biased arm to overcome the biasing force of the biased arm to maintain the snare within the interior cavity. The thread forms a barrier preventing a mouse from having access to bait within the interior cavity until the mouse extends its head through the snare and gnaws through the thread barrier thereby releasing the biased arm which urges the snare out of the interior cavity ensnaring the head of the mouse.
