ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A movable apparatus adhering to the surface of a wall which is capable of moving continuously and smoothly on the hull of a ship or the wall of a modern architectural struc- ture such as a sky-scraper without the danger of falling. The apparatus comprises a body which is capable of moving along the wall, a plurality of wall-adhering members mounted on that body, each adhering member being moved in the same direction as that of the body, and a device capable of adhering and separa- ting each wall-adhering member from the wall. The apparatus performs a series of operations comprising a first operation to separate each wall-adhering member, a second operation to change the position of each member within the body while the first separating operation is maintained, and a third operation to extend and adhere the adhering member onto the wall are con- ducted in a predetermined sequence on each wall-adhering member while the body is being moved along the wall.
