A b s t r a c t The invention refers to a movable bucket-wheel excavator comprising a lower chassis and a superstructure, said super- structure comprising a discharge arm associated with a dis- charge conveyor belt and a support for a dredge turntable, on which support a dredge arm carrying the bucket-wheel is pivotally linked for being swivelled in height direction. The working range in height direction or such a bucket-wheel excavator is limited by the possible pivotal area or the dredge arm in height direction. For increasing the possible working range of such an excavator in height direction, the support for the dredge turntable is made height-adjustable relative to the lower chassis so that the working range of the excavator in height direction is increased for the amount of height adjustment.
