A B S T R A C T MOVABLE CATALYST BED REACTOR Movable catalyst bed reactor comprising a normally vertically extending cylindrical vessel having separate inlets (3, 4) for reactant and catalyst at the upper part of the vessel, an inter- mediate catalyst bed supporting means 9 and a bottom catalyst bed supporting means 30 inside the vessel and separate outlets (6, 7) for reactor effluent and catalyst, wherein at least the inter mediate catalyst bed supporting means 9 consists of a plurality of interconnected downwardly converging frusto-conical surfaces 10, having their lower ends connected to spaced apart vertical outlet channels 12 having circumferential walls 16 provided with sub- stantially circumferential screen sections for withdrawing reactor effluent from catalyst, the vertical outlet channels 12 having their axes arranged substantially uniformly distributed in a cir- cular pattern.
